The Tenuta Mara, also known as Mara Wine Estate, began its journey with Giordano Emendatori's deep passion for wine. Starting from acquiring the land in 2000 and culminating in establishing a vineyard named after his wife, Mara. Nestled in the picturesque hills of Romagna, the estate spans seven sun-drenched hectares predominantly cultivating Sangiovese grapes. A visit to Tenuta Mara offers an unparalleled wine experience, combining outdoor art installations, leisurely walks through the vineyards, and the enchanting sounds of Mozart via Bose speakers. Inside, guests explore the music room and the sacred wine production spaces like Tinaia and Cantina, where wines ferment, age, and mature. It's a sensory journey culminating in a tasting of MaraMia, the estate's signature wine.
The vineyard prides itself on its commitment to biodynamic farming, where harmony with nature is crucial. Cultivating exclusively Sangiovese grapes from local mass selections, they ensure organic fertility and soil biodiversity through alternating row management and green manure. In the cellar, they maintain a non-invasive approach, using only air to allow light to shape the wine. Continuous pump-overs enhance yeast activity, while maceration and aging in Taransaud barrels or natural cement vats enrich the wines with tertiary aromas. Their final products—MaraMia, Guiry, MaraMato, and Totmà—reflect their dedication to quality and sustainability.
